Training Tomorrow's Artists - Creating a Sustainable Praxis

A SEMINAR ON SUPPORTING THE ADOLESCENT DANCERS' AND PERFORMING ARTISTS' WELLBEING


On Sunday the 5th of June 2022, 10-17.15 o´clock
Venue: Finnish National Opera and Ballet & Zoom

In our biggest seminar this year we will dive in to the physical challenges of the adolescent dancer, how to train smart when issues occur, as well as nutrition and recovery. The seminar is for teachers, parents, everyone working with young dancers and performing artists, as well as the youth themselves. The seminar venue is the Finnish National Opera and Ballet, Helsinki, but one can attend via Zoom from anywhere in the world and recordings are available for all participants after the event. The event is organised in conjunction with the Helsinki International Ballet Competition and the seminar language is english.

10:15-11 The Importance of rest and sleep for recovery, skill learning and overall wellbeing, Veera Kainulainen (PhD, Healthy Gymnasts/Athlete specialist in Finnish Gymnastic Federation and in Kisakallio Sport Institute, post-doctoral researcher in Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki)


11-11:45 The role of nutrition in dancer´s career - a lifespan approach to performance, health and recovery, Laura Manner (Sports nutritionist for the Metropolitan Sports academy, Urhea and the Finnish Olympic Committee)


12.15-13.15 Movement session: The benefits of systematic & versatile training, Henrik Burman (physical trainer at The Finnish National Opera Ballet School) & Asla Jääskeläinen (physical trainer at the Metropolitan Sports Academy, Urhea)


13.15-14.15 Lunch


14:15-15.15 Stress injuries of the growing dancer, Reetta Rönkkö (MD, specializing in emergency medicine, MA Dance kinesiology, MA Dance Performance, Pilates instructor) & Riina Komonen (MD, specializing in Sports Medicine, Master of Health Sciences, International Health, Pilates instructor)
